Novelist Marie Hermanson was born in Gothenburg at the Swedish west coast in 1956.
She was educated at the School of Journalism and also studied literature and sociology at Gothenburg University.
During her studies she worked extra at a mental hospital.
After finishing her education she worked as a journalist at daily papers.
1986 she published her first book, a collection of short stories inspired from folk tales and myths.
After that she has published eight novels.
She still lives in Gothenburg with her husband.
Marie Hermansons books have been sold to fourteen countries.
None of the books are published in English but you can read an excerpt of Musselstranden translated into English by Sonia Wichman, Colombia University.
